Yukon Solitaire is a challenging single-player card game that tests your skill and strategy. The objective is to move all the cards to the foundation piles, following specific rules.

Setup:

  1. Use a standard 52-card deck for Yukon Solitaire.
  2. Shuffle the deck and deal a tableau consisting of seven columns. The first column has one card, the second two cards, and so on, until the seventh column has seven cards.
  3. Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile.

Objective:

  1. The goal is to build four foundation piles in ascending order, starting with an Ace and ending with a King, for each of the four suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades).

Round Play:

  1. Cards in the tableau columns are arranged in descending order and alternating colors. For example, a black 10 can be placed on a red Jack.
  2. You can move a sequence of cards if they are in descending order and of the same suit. For example, you can move the 5 of Hearts and 4 of Hearts together to the 6 of Hearts if it's available.
  3. You can move a King to an empty tableau column or a sequence of cards ending with a King.
  4. Cards can be moved from the tableau columns to the foundation piles if they match the suit and are in ascending order. For example, you can move the Ace of Hearts to the foundation, followed by the 2 of Hearts, and so on.
  5. Any face-up card can be placed on another face-up card of the opposite color and one rank higher. For example, you can place the 6 of Spades on the 7 of Hearts. This can be done within tableau columns or from the tableau to the foundation.
  6. You can draw cards from the draw pile (one at a time) to the waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is turned face up and is available for play. You can go through the draw pile as many times as necessary.
  7. When there are no more available moves on the tableau or with the draw pile, the game is over. To win, you must have built all foundation piles with a King as the top card.

Winning:

  1. The game is won when all four foundation piles are built in ascending order, each starting with an Ace and ending with a King.

Tips:

  • Plan your moves carefully and consider the implications of each move on future plays.
  • Prioritize moving cards to the foundation when possible.
  • Empty tableau columns are valuable for moving Kings and sequences.
  • Use the draw pile wisely, as it can be a critical resource for making the right moves.

Yukon Solitaire is a game of patience and strategy. It's known for its mix of skill and luck, making it a beloved classic among card games.

Yukon Solitaire really brings out that mix of skill and luck, doesn’t it? I love how strategic it is; every move counts. It’s like navigating rough waters—you have to think several steps ahead. The setup seems straightforward, but once you start, you realize how each card can change the game.

I appreciate the tips, especially about using empty tableau columns wisely. That’s a game changer! And yeah, prioritizing moves to the foundation is crucial. It’s all about maintaining that balance between immediate plays and long-term strategy.

I sometimes find myself overthinking it, though. Patience is key, but it can be tough when you’re just itching to make a move. Anyway, I’ll have to give it another go this weekend. Maybe I’ll finally build all those foundation piles and snag that win! 🃏
