President, commonly known as Asshole or Scum, is a trick-taking card game played with the objective of getting rid of all your cards and achieving the highest rank within the game's social hierarchy.
Setup for President:
- Use a standard 52-card deck.
- Decide on the number of players. The game works best with 4 or more players.
- Shuffle the deck thoroughly and select a dealer.
Objective for President:
- The goal is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards and become the President in the next round.
- The rankings in the game typically include President, Vice President, Middle Class, and Asshole (Scum).
Round Play for President:
- The game is played in a series of rounds, and each round consists of several steps.
- The dealer shuffles and deals the entire deck of cards to the players.
- Players take turns in a clockwise direction, with the player to the dealer's left leading the first trick.
- A trick consists of one or more cards played by each player in turn. In the first trick, the player with the 3 of Clubs leads.
- In subsequent tricks, players must follow suit and play a card of equal or higher rank than the previously played card. If a player cannot follow suit, they must pass their turn.
- The player who leads the trick can choose the rank they want to start with, and other players must follow that rank.
- The first player to get rid of all their cards becomes the President in the next round. The second player becomes the Vice President, the third becomes Middle Class, and the last player becomes the Asshole (Scum).
- The President can make the Asshole (Scum) give their two highest-ranking cards to the President, who then gives any two cards back.
- The Vice President and Middle Class can make similar exchanges, but they exchange one card each.
- The President leads the first trick in the next round.
Winning:
- The game is typically played for a set number of rounds. The player with the highest rank, such as the President, at the end of the final round is the overall winner.
Tips:
- Pay attention to the cards played and try to strategize to become the President in the next round.
- Remember that the hierarchy can change, and the Asshole (Scum) can work their way up by winning tricks.
President, often known as Asshole or Scum, is a social and light-hearted card game that can provide hours of entertainment. It's all about strategy, trick-taking, and the dynamics of the ever-changing hierarchy.

Ah, the President game! Brings back some good memories. I remember playing it on long sailing trips with friends. It’s simple, but the strategy can get intense. Love how it mixes a bit of luck with clever play.
The hierarchy aspect makes it fun, too—especially when you’re the Asshole one round and clawing your way back up. 😂 Nothing like passing cards to the President and hoping for a good swap!
I think it’s interesting how it mirrors life in a way—everyone fighting to climb up, yet all in good fun.
Just a tip: keep track of what cards everyone plays. It helps a lot! Prepping for a game like this is like prepping for the sea: always be ready for the unexpected!
Good times, good times. 🏴☠️
