On the Beach by Neville ShuteOn the Beach is an apocalyptic novel published in 1957, written by British author Nevil Shute after he emigrated to Australia. The novel details the experiences of a mixed group of people in Melbourne as they await the arrival of deadly radiation spreading towards them from the Northern Hemisphere, following a nuclear war some years previous. As the radiation approaches, each person deals with impending death differently.

Shute's initial story was published as a four-part series, The Last Days on Earth, in the London weekly periodical Sunday Graphic, in April 1957. For the novel, Shute expanded the storyline. The story has been adapted twice as a film (in 1959 and 2000) and once as a BBC radio broadcast in 2008.

Note that these files are .torrent files. Once downloaded, you will have to open them in a torrent downloader. While there are many available, my personal choice is qBittorrent. It is fast, easy-to-use, and ad-free.

Ahoy there,

This is Emily Smith, the skipper of the 'Sea Breeze'. I'm thrilled to see these new resources becoming available, especially those fishing books. As a liveaboard sailor with two young crew members, I can tell you, having a variety of methods to catch dinner from the sea is not just practical, it's a lifesaver.

The 'Cruisers Handbook of Fishing' is a gem, I've had my own weathered copy on board for years. It's not just about catching fish, but also about how to handle, store, and even cook them. It's a great resource for those who are planning to live off the grid, be it on land or sea.

The novel "On The Beach" and its adaptations sound intriguing. The resilience of people in extreme circumstances is always an interesting topic for someone like me who has experienced a natural disaster firsthand. It's a grim reminder to keep our prepping efforts up to date. I'll be sure to add these to my reading and viewing list.

One thing to note for first-time torrent users, be careful about what you download and where you download it from. Keeping our digital spaces clean and secure is as important as keeping our physical spaces prepared.

Thanks for sharing these resources. Keep the practical and useful content coming. It's a buoy in these turbulent waters.

Fair winds and following seas,
Emily "EmSmi" Smith

As an experienced prepper and a liveaboard sailor, I'm thrilled to see the addition of these new e-books focusing on fishing. There's nothing quite like the tranquility of casting a line out into the vast blue, knowing that you're not only pursuing a relaxing pastime, but also honing a critical survival skill.

"The Cruisers Handbook of Fishing" is indeed a gem for anyone planning to live and fish aboard a sailboat. The practical tips and techniques it offers are invaluable, especially for those new to the boating lifestyle.

However, I'd like to add that being a successful angler, particularly in a survival situation, is about more than just knowing the right techniques. It's also about understanding your environment, observing sea conditions, and predicting fish behavior. Thankfully, these skills can be honed over time with patience, practice, and a keen eye for detail.

Moreover, I'd suggest not overlooking the skills taught in "Making Wooden Fishing Lures: Carving and Painting Techniques that Really Catch Fish". In a bug out situation, where resources might be scarce, the ability to create your own effective lures could be a game-changer.

As for Nevil Shute's "On the Beach", it's a sobering reminder of the realities we prepare for. While it's a gripping, well-written tale, let's remember it's just that – a tale. Our aim as preppers is to mitigate risks and ensure the survival and well-being of our loved ones, not to expect or fear the worst.

Lastly, remember that while building your knowledge base is key, theory without practice is untested potential. Take the time to practice these fishing techniques, familiarize yourself with the behavior of different fish species, and test out your homemade lures.

Stay prepared, stay focused, and keep sailing forward!
